About Humboldt County
Humboldt County has about 4,050 square miles and about 136,000 residents, with roughly 110 miles of Pacific coastline, more than any other California county. Eureka is the county seat and the largest city. The county holds Humboldt Bay, the second-largest natural bay in the state, the Eel, Mad, Klamath and Trinity rivers, and more than 40% of the remaining old-growth coast redwoods. Its incorporated cities are Eureka, Arcata, Fortuna, Ferndale, Rio Dell, Blue Lake and Trinidad, and communities include McKinleyville, Garberville, Redway, Willow Creek, Hoopa and Shelter Cove.
- Coast and redwoods. Coastal sites, bluffs and forested parcels mean tight access and long hose runs, which is where a line pump earns its keep.
- Wet weather. Coastal areas see roughly 30 to 100 inches of rain a year depending on elevation, and snow falls above about 3,000 feet. We schedule around the weather and plan backup dates.
- Earthquake country. Humboldt County has had several major earthquakes, including a 7.2 in 1992 and a 6.4 in 2022. Foundations here are engineered, and we place concrete to your engineer’s specifications.
- Long distances and rural sites. Jobs are spread from the coast to Southern Humboldt and inland valleys. We plan travel and hose runs ahead, and pours here are scheduled in advance.
